Welcome to the Jada Simone Shop! My name is Jada Cameron and I’m a full time student at University of Florida. When I’m not busy with my major, I paint in my spare time. My paintings are a representation of people and things around me. At first I was discouraged to create artwork, where black people were the main focus because other artists that I was seeing at the time were showcasing white characters. After scrolling through Instagram and seeing many black artists and black paintings, I was inspired to create painting where the people looked like me and the people around me. I gain the confidence to embrace my blackness and culture. As an artist, it is important for me to be true to who I am and to my audience. My truth will help me connect with others. As a black art, it will help me connect with the community by putting our beauty and culture on display. Jada Simone Shop is a place where all shades of blackness is celebrated and embraced. Each shade of melanin, from the lightest complexion to the darkest complexion, is showcased with emphasis and detailed approach on the richness of their their skin. Also aspects of black culture is shown through series such as Muse.
